Mission Statement
The Calaveras Chamber is dedicated to creating and promoting a prosperous community through business advocacy and growth. Our mission is to foster strong relationships among local businesses and provide resources for economic prosperity.
From marketing advice to strategies for business development, we provide a range of resources to support our members. Our regular networking events and workshops provide opportunities to connect with other local businesses and learn valuable skills for growth. We offer a range of marketing and promotional opportunities for our members, including advertising, sponsorships, and participation in community events, and we advocate for policies and initiatives that benefit our members and the local business community, and work closely with local governments to promote economic growth.
A Legacy of Business and Community in Calaveras County
For nearly a century, the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce has been part of the story of business, tourism, and community life in the Mother Lode. Business records identify 1928 as the beginning of the Chamber’s local operation, during a time when Calaveras County was evolving beyond its Gold Rush-era mining economy and building a future rooted in agriculture, tourism, small business, and community. From the beginning, the Chamber brought local business owners and community leaders together to promote the county and the communities, attractions, and resources that make Calaveras unique.
The Chamber’s history is closely connected to the preservation and promotion of Calaveras County’s rich heritage. In 1930, the Chamber erected the California Historical Landmark plaque commemorating San Andreas, one of the county’s earliest Gold Rush communities. The Chamber also worked with state organizations on historic preservation and tourism efforts, including efforts in 1951 to preserve and designate the historic Red School House near Altaville as a landmark. These early efforts reflect a longstanding commitment to celebrating the places, stories, and traditions that help make Calaveras County a destination for visitors and a special place to call home.
Today, the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce carries that legacy forward by supporting the businesses, organizations, and communities that make the county thrive. Through networking, education, marketing, workforce initiatives, community events, and business resources, the Chamber helps promote Calaveras County as a great place to do business, visit, and live.
