About the event
Join Calaveras County Public Health for a free screening of The Cigarette Surfboard in recognition of the Great American Smokeout—a national day that inspires people to quit tobacco and protect their health.
This inspiring documentary follows Ben Judkins and Taylor Lane who met through a shared passion for protecting the environment and turned their creativity toward tackling the issue of tobacco waste. Taylor created the Ciggy Boards, surfboards made from thousands of discarded cigarette butts to start conversations and inspire action to protect our oceans and communities. Ben helped create this film to motivate people from all backgrounds to care for the environment and stand up against pollution. Together, they bring The Cigarette Surfboard to life, connecting art, activism, and the need to hold Big Tobacco accountable for toxic waste. The surfboards spark interest, but the message has been inspiring change everywhere.
