Mural Celebration - Shutter Tree Park - Mokelumne Hill

The Mokelumne Hill Library is an integral part of our community. Located on Main Street, in the center of town, our  branch of the Calaveras County Library system, serves our town in many ways. Aside from providing the normal services of a library, the location is a gathering place for local meetings, children after school, and those interested in our local past through the Mokelumne Hill History Society, which shares a small office in the building.

In November. 2019, Anne Cook, artist/resident of Mokelumne Hill, proposed using an exterior wall of the library as a location to illustrate our small town’s rich history using a variety of mediums, mostly mosaics. Working together, under Anne’s creative direction, with a dozen or so other volunteer citizens, work began on the wall which measures forty-nine feet long and eighteen feet high.
