Business Associations

Since the 1960s, Angels Camp Business Association (ACBA) has been intricately involved in the life and commerce of our historic Gold Rush town – Angels Camp.

We work to unify and involve the business community in order to promote and support business success and goodwill in the greater Angels Camp area. Our goal is to build an Active Community of Businesses Aligned for a successful Angels Camp

ACBA’s many activities include the Farmers Market, the Jr. Frog Jump, a Wine Hop, the annual Christmas Bows & Boughs displayed along Main Street (Highway 49) and the annual Christmas Parade & Visit with Santa.  Each year funds are raised for the scholarship program for graduating Seniors of Bret Harte High School, John Viera High School and Vallecito High School.

Membership includes many networking opportunities among small business owners throughout the year.  The “After Hours” Business Mixer is held each quarter and open to small business owners.  Ribbon Cutting ceremonies are hosted by ACBA in partnership with  Destination Angels Camp, to help welcome and share with the greater community that another small business opening in Angels Camp!

Membership is open to any company doing business in Angels Camp as well as to individuals and not-for-profit agencies who are interested in making Angels Camp a better community.

If you do business in or around the Murphys area, we invite you to become a part of our very dynamic and active organization.  The MBA meets on alternating months on the first Thursday of the month at 8:30 am to discuss upcoming events (we normally take January, March, May, July, September, and November off and our December meeting is the tree trimming event), how to promote Murphys, and other topics of interest to local business owners.  Everyone is welcome to join us at our membership meetings, but you may want to verify meeting dates in advance as we do sometimes change them or skip a meeting. The board meets monthly, most often on the last Tuesday of the month.  Anybody who wishes to present an idea or discuss a concern with the board is welcome to join us…just let us know so we can let you know exactly when & where we’ll be meeting.  We also host several evening mixers each year. You can always contact us at info@visitmurphys.com.

Nestled under the snow line of Highway 49 in the California foothills is the quaint little mining village of Copperopolis founded in 1860. It burned down a couple of times but always came back because of its perfect location. It was on the straight shot stagecoach line down to Stockton, a major water port that connected to San Francisco. After adding beautiful Lake Tullock in 1957, it became an important source of water for downstream agriculture.

Many homes sprung up in the hills and around the lake making it lucrative for small businesses to support their community. There are a handful of business centers with a variety of offerings including a market, hardware store, restaurants, and a gas station. But dig a little deeper and you will find a myriad of home-based services that trade with the locals and spring up at the outdoor markets and festivals. Candles, soap, granola, eggs, and vegetables complement the mechanics, handymen, and trade folks that live and operate in our town.

It’s still a small-town community and very family-oriented but growing in leaps and bounds. Everybody knows everyone and we’d like to get to know you! Please join our mailing list for updates and more information.
